Mobile Banking Services

Bimas USSD Mobile banking is the service that enables customers to receive information about their accounts and to make real transactions by using mobile phones in a secure and reliable way. Services like: enquiry (balance enquiry/ mini statement), bill payment and other banking services. This service is only applicable to customers who have been registered and enrolled to Bimas mobile banking services

to access mobile banking services

Dial *645*300#

To access Bimas Mobile Banking services you just have to dial the USSD Code *645*300# using your mobile phone.

For those clients who have already been registered and activated in mobile banking, a popup login screen will appear prompting you to enter a four-digit PIN in order to login to the USSD mobile banking system. Enter your pin and tap the SEND button in order to login

For a client to register through the USSD Code, the client has to dial the USSD Code *645*300# using his/her mobile phone. A popup login screen will appear prompting to the client to either select the option of Activate Mobile Banking or Register

Select option 2 (Register) and click SEND to go to the next stage. You will then be required to start entering your basic information 8 digits national ID number, first name, other names and then selecting branch in the list that appear then click OK to complete the process. Once the registration has been successfully approved by the persons in charge, a client will receive a message contain his/her details and Bimas Client ID

For a client to activate his/her mobile banking has to dial the USSD Code *645*300# using his/her mobile phone. A popup login screen will appear prompting to the client to select the option of Activate Mobile Banking. A client then enters the client ID and click SEND. The client has to dial the USSD using the same mobile number he/she registered, otherwise there will a prompt error indicating account mismatch

A customer may block his/her mobile account in a scenario where he/she tries to enter wrong pin three times. Once the account is locked, the customer may not be in a position to access USSD services as he/she will be told to visit the nearest branch to unlock the account. The customer at the office will be provided with mobile activation form to fill and attach his/her copy of the ID. The form will be submitted to the ICT for activation. The case will be the same if the customer has forgotten his/her pin and wants it rest.

Bimas USSD Mobile banking services enables customers to enquire information about their accounts which include savings balance and mini statement of all accounts attached to them. These accounts may be Disbursement Account, Wallet Account and Loan Guarantee Savings Account.


Savings Balance

In order to view savings balance of accounts attached to the user: -

1. Dial the USSD Code *645*300# using your mobile phone.

2. Enter a four-digit PIN in order to login to the USSD mobile banking system.

3. Select Option 1 (Enquiries)

4. Select Savings Balance (Option 1)

5. A list of accounts attached to you will appear that is Disbursement account, Wallet account and Loan Guarantee savings account

6. Select the account you would wish to view its balance and click SEND

7. A popup screen will appear indicating the account number and balance of the savings account you have selected in the listed option

Mini statement

In order to view mini statements of accounts attached to the user: -

1. Dial the USSD Code *645*300# using your mobile phone.

2. Enter a four-digit PIN in order to login to the USSD mobile banking system.

3. Select Option 1 (Enquiries)

4. Select Mini statement (Option 2)

5. A list of accounts attached to you will appear that is Disbursement account, Wallet account and Loan Guarantee savings account

6. Select the account you would wish to view its balance and click SEND

7. You will receive message from Bimas indicating the mini statement of the account you have selected in the listed option as shown below.

The USSD services help the customer to deposit funds to a group collection account from his/her MPESA. This is only possible to those customers whose their sim card supports STK Push technology otherwise, they won’t receive MPESA prompt requesting them to allow initiated transaction of the amount being paid to a group collection account

In order to deposit money to a group collection account: -

1. Dial the USSD Code *645*300# using your mobile phone.

2. Enter a four-digit PIN in order to login to the USSD mobile banking system.

3. Select Option 2 (Deposit funds)

4. Select Group Collections Account (Option 1)

5. Enter amount in the filed that appear and click SEND

6. You will receive an onscreen message indicating the deposit request has been received. Click Ok

7. An MPESA STK Push prompt will appear requesting you to authorize the transaction of the amount to complete through MPESA

8. Enter your MPESA Pin to complete the transaction and click Ok

The USSD application will enable the customer view information concerning his/her loans. A customer can: - Request a loan, View loan balance, Request loan mini statement and Pay Loan

In order to request for a loan through the USSD: -

1. Dial the USSD Code *645*300# using your mobile phone.

2. Enter a four-digit PIN in order to login to the USSD mobile banking system.

3. Select Option 3 (Loans)

4. Select Option Request Loan (Option 1)

5. From a list of classes of loans that appear, select which loan you would want to apply for that is E-Loan, Weekly Loan or Monthly Loan

6. If you are applying for a weekly loan, select option 2 (Weekly Loan)

8. From a list of weekly loans, select which weekly loan you are applying for. If you are applying for a Msingi loan, select option 3 (Msingi W)

9. Enter the amount you are applying for between 1000 and 300000 and click SEND to complete the process.

10. Your loan application will be received and be waiting for approval. Upon approval, you will receive message from Bimas indicating success of your application

In order to enquire for a loan balance through the USSD: -

1. Dial the USSD Code *645*300# using your mobile phone.

2. Enter a four-digit PIN in order to login to the USSD mobile banking system.

3. Select Option 3 (Loans)

4. Select Option Loan Balance (Option 2)

5. From a list of accounts that appear, select what account you want to view loan balance e.g. Chap chap loan (Option 1)

6. You will receive an onscreen popup indicating the loan balance of the account you have selected in the option 5 above. See the image below

In order to pay for a loan: -

1. Dial the USSD Code *645*300# using your mobile phone.

2. Enter a four-digit PIN in order to login to the USSD mobile banking system.

3. Select Option 3 (Loans)

4. Select Pay Loan (Option 4)

5. From a list of accounts that appear, select what account you want to view loan balance e.g. Chap chap loan (Option 1)

6. Enter amount in the field that appear and click SEND

7. You will receive an onscreen message indicating the deposit request has been received. Click Ok

8. An MPESA STK Push prompt will appear requesting you to authorize the transaction of the amount to complete through MPESA

9. Enter your MPESA Pin to complete the transaction and click Ok

The USSD Mobile banking services has been integrated with MPESA API that will enable customers transfer their money from their Bimas Wallet account to their MPESA Account. This can be done at any time a customer wishes to do so and it makes mobile banking easy and customer friendly.

In order to transfer money from wallet account to MPESA: -

1. Dial the USSD Code *645*300# using your mobile phone.

2. Enter a four-digit PIN in order to login to the USSD mobile banking system.

3. Select Option 4 (Send to MPESA)

4. Select Bimas Mobile Wallet (The listed account)

5. Enter the amount between 50 and 70000 and click SEND. You will receive a prompt indicating the reception of your request to carry out withdrawal to MPESA. Note that the minimum amount to be withdrawn is KES. 50.

The USSD helps to perform actions pertaining your account such as viewing personal information, contact information, address and also changing your pin. It’s good to keep your pin secure and private and also changing it regularly to keep your account safe. The USSD helps you to change the pin any time you would wish so.

In order to transfer money from wallet account to MPESA: -

1. Dial the USSD Code *645*300# using your mobile phone.

2. Enter a four-digit PIN in order to login to the USSD mobile banking system.

3. Select Option 6 (My account)

4. Select Change my PIN (option 1)

5. Enter your older pin and next your new pin and click SEND to complete the process. Your new pin will be set and you can use
